News about JAMB CAPS

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) platform was designed by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to automate the admissions process into Nigeria’s higher institutions. It also assures that the admissions process is of high quality, transparent, and credible.

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is likely to include a’marketplace’ in the JAMB portal where universities can’request students in Nigeria who meet their cut-off points.’

The system is set up in such a way that institutions can only admit students who match certain criteria. If a candidate fails to make the cut-off figure, he or she will very probably be denied admission, regardless of family ties.

CAPS not only automates the procedure, but it also introduces several new features. These are some of them:

  • candidates have the opportunity to confirm provisional admissions, reducing the number of situations of candidates leaving admissions;
  • Institutions would be able to obtain applicants from the available pool based on a variety of factors like JAMB score, state, local government, and even gender of the candidates.
  • Candidates who have yet to receive their O/L results must upload them to the JAMB portal before being considered for admission. Admissions can be processed in batches and instantly, and candidates can check their admission status at any time on the JAMB portal.

Have you applied for the JAMB UTME/Direct entry in 2021/2022 and been accepted by the university/institution of your choice? If you answered yes, you must go to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) portal and declare whether you accept or reject your admission offer in order for your application to be processed. Candidates who have not yet been admitted can use the JAMB CAPS portal to track their status.

This is to inform all candidates seeking admission into Nigeria’s various universities, polytechnics, colleges, and other tertiary institutions that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) portal, which allows UTME and Direct Entry candidates to accept/reject their admission offers and track their admission status.

All admissions will be made online through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), according to JAMB policy. As a result, all candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions for the 2021/2022 Academic Session are advised to visit the JAMB CAPS portal to check their admission status and indicate acceptance or rejection.

The JAMB CAPS streamlines the admissions process, addresses the challenges associated with the manual approach, restores tertiary institutions’ admissions autonomy, focuses on candidates and empowers them with information on available institutions and programs, expands admission opportunities, eliminates multiple admissions, and provides easily retrievable data for decision-making and research on the country’s education sector.

On their own webpage or notice board, some institutions may not post the list of candidates accepted into their respective programs. As a result, admission aspirants are urged to check JAMB CAPS on a regular basis to keep track of their admission status.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you accept the admission, you will no longer be considered for admission to other institutions. If you decline the admission, on the other hand, you become accessible for admission consideration at other institutions with open admission slots.
