Five Dead In Unilorin Campus Auto Accident.
The accident at the university dam involved a University of Ilorin student as well as a family of four consisting of a father, mother, and their two children.
The accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Monday along the university dam, and several other people were seriously injured.

On Wednesday, the university’s Students Union Government (SUG) President and Public Relations Officer, Taofik, Waliu Opeyemi, and Olabode, Stephen Opeyemi, respectively, issued a statement, which stated in part:
“The regrettable accident occurred as a result of a private car speeding and colliding with a campus “korope” shuttle bus.”
“A devastating tragedy occurred around 9:00 p.m. Monday evening, claiming some lives” (with the drivers of both vehicles inclusive). We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray that God gives them the strength to bear the incalculable losses.

“We also wish the injured victims a speedy recovery while they are being treated in the hospital.”
“However, students should be aware that academic activities have been discontinued for today.”
Furthermore, the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, stated that the University of Ilorin’s management was informed of the accident that occurred on campus on Monday evening.
“The abovementioned accident resulted in some fatalities, as well as injuries to some of the occupants of the cars involved in varied degrees.
“We express our condolences to the deceased’s parents and pray to Almighty God to comfort them at this difficult time.”
We also express our condolences to the university’s whole student body for the tragic loss of their classmates.
The injured party’s management also wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
“All vehicle users are hereby enjoined to rigorously adhere to traffic laws and regulations, particularly,” the statement read.
