“Dear parents, your children are safe,” the Lloyd Gymnasium, which has roughly 1,150 students, wrote on its website. It included a phone number where parents may get more information.

According to the German newspaper Bild, the injured individual was a woman who was transported to the hospital. This could not be confirmed right away.

According to the publication, a second suspect was on the run after the shooting, but police confirmed on Twitter that their investigation revealed only one offender.

The guy who was detained was not identified by the police.

According to local media, students barricaded themselves inside their classrooms after bullets were fired at a secondary school in the northern city of Bremerhaven, west of Hamburg.

According to authorities, one individual was injured in the attack at the Lloyd Gymnasium School and was brought to the hospital.

At around 9.15 a.m. local time, police were called after a suspect entered the school.

He was apprehended shortly after, and police are trying to figure out who he is and what his purpose might be.

According to a police spokeswoman, officers were able to bring the situation at the school under control.

She explained, “The pupils are in their classrooms with their teachers.”

“The armed individual was apprehended and taken into police custody.”

According to Nord24, an online publication, a schoolgirl who heard the bullets phoned the cops.

The Bild newspaper had previously stated that a second suspect armed with a crossbow was on the run.

Bremerhaven Police later confirmed on Twitter that only one person was responsible.

The weapon used is “unknown at this time.”

After special troops searched the building, students and teachers were allowed to depart.
