For its 2021/2022 Advance Africa Scholarship Program, Access Bank and Udacity are seeking applications from Africans interested in learning tech-forward skills to jump-start careers in the financial industry. The deadline for application submission is December 29, 2021.
In the years 2021-2022, Udacity will collaborate with Access Bank, a multinational commercial bank, to empower people in Africa who want to master tech-forward skills and establish careers in the banking industry.
Business Analytics, Programming, Data Science, Product Management, and Digital Marketing are just a few of the areas where they provide hands-on training. Scholarship awardees will create a portfolio of real-world projects demonstrating mastery of in-demand tech skills.
All scholarship recipients are entirely free to participate in the program. The costs are covered by Access Bank.
Udacity/Access Bank Advance Africa Scholarship Program Details
Udacity and Access Bank are dedicated to bridging the gap between the number of available tech jobs and the number of Africans employed in the field by providing opportunities to people who would not otherwise have them. This begins with assuring a steady supply of well-trained and competent technologists. They provide the following services while working together:
- 2,000 scholarships for Nanodegree programs enabling Africans to develop practical, in-demand, cutting-edge IT skills.
- Involvement with peers in a well-developed, well-managed student community.
- Experts in their fields and on-demand tutors.
Individuals will be able to upskill and gain the abilities they need in the digital age as a result of the scholarship. In reality, the tech business offers some of the fastest-growing and most in-demand jobs available today.
How Udacity/Access Bank Advance Africa Scholarship Program Works
Phase 1: Challenge Course
20,000 Access Bank Scholarship applicants will be chosen to enroll in a Challenge Course in four cohorts, with the second cohort starting in December 2021. Each cohort will include 5,000 people in it. Over the course of five weeks, students study through one of the five basic Challenge Courses for Business Analytics, Intro to Programming, Programming for Data Science with Python, Product Management, or Digital Marketing, which consist of course material, content, and quizzes (no projects). During this time, students should expect to devote about 3–5 hours each week to their studies. In this first phase of the program, challenge course participants will interact with peers in a vibrant, actively managed student community.
Phase 2: Nanodegree program
A scholarship will be offered to 2,000 students in four rotating cohorts for Business Analytics, Intro to Programming, Programming for Data Science with Python, Product Management, or Digital Marketing. The first batch of winners will begin in January 2022, and each cohort will consist of 500 full scholarships. Expert project reviews offered by human project reviewers are included in access to these Nanodegree programs. Applicants should expect to devote approximately 5–10 hours each week for a period of two months.
Udacity/Access Bank Advance Africa Scholarship Program Eligibility
- Anyone over the age of 20 is urged to apply.
- During the Nanodegree programs, scholarship winners may expect to devote roughly 5–10 hours per week.
- STEM graduate or exhibited strong interest in pursuing a career in IT and Digital.
- Access to a laptop on a regular basis.
- Access to a reliable data network and power supply on a regular basis.
- Commitment to the program’s time requirements.
- Pre-approval is required for Udacity to exchange data with the bank throughout the application process.
- Recent school/university graduates, as well as early-career professionals, are particularly preferred.
- Applicants from Africa are strongly encouraged to apply.
